Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A stormy night is forecast across much of southern Minnesota.

The National Weather Service is predicting strong thunderstorms will develop late tonight and continue into the early morning on Sunday. Forecasters say the storms could produce large hail and heavy rains, which could result in some localized flooding.

The highest risk for severe weather is in an area running from just west of Owatonna and Albert Lea northwest through the Mankato area and into west-central Minnesota near Willmar. The National Weather Service is indicating Rochester and most of the southeast corner of the state currently faces a slight risk of severe weather but a near certainty of thunderstorm activity overnight.
