‘Store Closing’ Signs Up At GNC Store In Rochester

We just heard last week that GNC Stores were struggling and would be closing 6 of their Minnesota stores.  Rochester was not on the list.  But, "store closing" signs were spotted today at the GNC store at the Apache Mall in Rochester.

We originally shared the news about GNC filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on June 25th.  You can click here to read that original story.  The stores in MInnesota that were included in the long list of stores that would be closing were:

• Andover Marketplace, Andover
• Burnsville Center, 1030 Burnsville Center, Burnsville
• Southdale Center, 2525 Southdale Center, Edina
• Five Lakes Center, 334 South State St, Fairmont
• Midway Shopping Center, 1470 University Ave W, St. Paul
• Kandi Mall, 1605 1st St S, Willmar

I got a note from one of my co-workers today, Jarred Becker, who shared a photo with "store closing" signs up at the GNC store at the Apache Mall in Rochester.

I did speak with the staff at the store in the Apache Mall and their last day isn't known yet but the other location in Rochester will remain open.  I also left a message for GNC to get more information on the closing of this store, specifically to understand why this was not listed in the original list of stores that would be closing in Minnesota and if they could tell me a date when the store would be closed.  The initially stated "Store 5076 is closed due to COVID 19 concerns at this time.  Due to COVID 19 concerns, store hours have changed and are not listed on the website."  I am pretty sure that info isn't correct since I spoke with people on the phone and their doors were open, so I asked my original questions a few more times. I did not receive an answer.

Earlier today, we also learned that 300 First, a popular restaurant in downtown Rochester, was also closing their doors.  You can read the sad announcement that was shared regarding the unfortunate news here.
