St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities baby has been reunited with her mother.

After mistakenly reporting that 7-month-old Chanelle Jones had been found her father arrested in Minneapolis, St. Paul Police last night reported that someone left the child at a hospital unharmed.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a statewide alert about the missing infant at the request of St. Paul Police, who believed the baby had been taken by her father after he allegedly assaulted her mother on Thursday. 21-year-old Jamal Jones is still being sought by police.

It's not known who left the infant at the( hospital.

An earlier report from St. Paul Police that a missing infant had been found has proved to be erroneous.

A statement from the St. Paul Police now says investigators have determined a man detained by Metro Transit Police in Minneapolis was not 21-year-old Jamal Jones and the infant with the man is not 7-month-old Chanelle Jones. The discovery has led to the re-issuance of a statewide alert seeking assistance in locating the missing baby.

Officials have said they believe the infant was taken by her father after Jamal Jones allegedly assaulted the baby's mother earlier today. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Paul Police Department.
