Slater, Iowa (KROC AM News) - A southern Minnesota woman was killed in Iowa Saturday after she and three other people were struck by a car just minutes after a parade had ended.

The Iowa State Patrol says 59-year-old Mary Nienow of Albert Lea was fatally injured. Two other women and a young child were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The State Patrol says the victims were walking on the street where the parade in the town of Slater had passed when they were hit. The vehicle that hit them had been parked on the same street. The 75-year-old woman driving the car apparently lost control and backed over the victims.

Slater is in southern Iowa, about 30 miles north of Des Moines.
