Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The extreme cold weather continues to interfere with Rochester Public Transit’s bus fleet and as a result, it has decided to continue operating at a reduced service level through Thursday. That means no regular service until Friday.

RPT does plan to continue operating its peak direct service to its Park and Ride lots. There will also be special direct trips to the Park & Ride locations that will leave the downtown transit center twice an hour from 8:15 A.M. to 2:45 P.M Wednesday and Thursday.

No other routes or trips will be in operation during the reduced schedule.

At this point, RPT plans to resume its full schedule on all routes Friday morning.

RPT says users of ZIPS paratransit service should be aware that, due to reduced capacity, medical trips will be prioritized over other trip types.

For those wishing to get downtown by personal vehicle, Rochester Municipal Parking reports capacity in all city-owned ramps as of Wednesday morning.

To honor our Ride to Stay Warm commitment to the Rochester community, persons needing to escape the elements may hail a bus along any of the direct routes and the driver will do his or her best to safely stop to allow riders to board. It is important that those wishing to board make an early and clear signal to the driver to allow time for them to safely stop the vehicle.
