Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Two Rochester men were freaked out Monday afternoon when police officers burst into their home with guns drawn.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the frightful incident was the result of a bogus call from a man who said he had just shot his ex-wife and was going to kill his daughter and himself.

The call was received around 5:30 PM and the caller said he was inside a home in the 5100 block of Duvall Place NW near Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The caller said his ex-wife had been shot and his daughter was hiding in a room.

Moilanen says the two men inside told the officers they “had no idea” what was going on or who would have made the call.

Moilanen says he can’t “overstate the seriousness” of the so-called “swatting” incident.

He says investigators are working hard to trace the call.
