Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A young Rochester boy was hit by a car while walking across a street late Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the 8-year-old got off a city bus in the 3600 block of 18th Ave NW around 6:00 pm. He was with his sister and a family friend. After the bus pulled away, the three were walking across the street when the boy was hit

The boy was checked at the scene by paramedics. The boy's mother said they decided not to take him to the hospital by ambulance.  She later took him to the ER where he was treated for a bump on his head and arm and leg lacerations. The boy's mother said he was kept for about 3 hours for observation but apparently did not suffer a concussion.

Police say there was no sign the 18-year-old driver of the car that hit the boy was speeding or driving carelessly.
