Friday is a day to remember the silent life-savers in our world. Their friends and family might know who they are, and certain very fortunate strangers, but you probably don't. And you should, because they gave the gift of life to someone. I'm talking about organ donors. Live donors and those that checked the box and save lives after they're gone.

Josie Weber was 9 when someone saved her grampa's life...

My grandpa is here because of a hero. Almost two years ago my grandpa was dying from Pulmonary Fibrosis until an organ donor donated their lungs to him. I’m so thankful for her and the decision to be an organ donor. If she did not make that decision I don’t think my grandpa would be here today. (Read her whole story here).

There are thousands of stories like that...and thousands of stories like mine, where my sister donated the gift of life to me. Without her kidney, I'd likely not be here right now. I'm forever grateful (even if she did give me the ugly looking one).

That's why this Friday, at St. Mary's Hospital, the Gift of Life Transplant House is hosting the Walk of Remembrance, to honor organ donors, the silent lifesavers. Please, join us, for a loved one, for the community, and the residents of the house who would love to be wrapped in our love during a hard time in their life.

The Gift of Life Transplant House provides transplant patients and their caregivers with high quality, affordable accommodations in a supportive, home-like environment. Full disclosure, I serve on the GOLTH Public Relations Committee.
