This History Center of Olmsted County sign hits me just right. We're just a few days away from New Year's Eve 2020 and even if we're not saying it out loud, aren't we all hoping things will start to get better the moment January 1st hits?

I had a great time over Christmas. My sweetie-pie, Diana, and I, hanging out on her family farm in Truman. One of the conversations was about what to do New Year's Eve. I've never been a big New Year's Eve guy. Sure, hosted a ton of bar parties and galas, but when it's 100% my choice, you know where I am?

Home. Sleeping at midnight. Not even a special dinner before going to bed. Just a dinner, some reading, TV, or whatever, then Snoozeville, Population ME. Since I was a kid, this was my thing.

This year, though, it's different. No, I don't suddenly LOVE NYE, and want to stay up till midnight, run into the snow filled fields, and shout Halleluiah it's 2021. But I don't NOT love the idea of 2020 ending, then running into the snow filled fields, shouting Halleluiah it's 2021!!!

Basically, the difference this year is that I am GLAD it's going to be a new year. I'm going to keep my hope alive that all things will get better after maybe getting worse because...dough-heads gotta dough-head.

That's why I like this picture so much. So what if the Olmsted County History Center is a few days early...I'm ready to put 2020 in the history books and maybe not pull it off for a few years...or decades.

Thank you to Anne Kowal, who shared the image on Spotted in Rochester. You and the OCHS gave me a laugh!
