I am a self-diagnosed "farmhouse" addict.  The signs.  The shiplap.  Farmhouse sink (luv!).  All of those together with the perfect color on the walls with the perfect quote or sayings on the wall...that is my dream for my home.  We are a work-in-progress at my house but a store is opening in Rochester that will help me get the finishing pieces ready for my house and the best thing...I get to learn how to create these myself!
Get excited because Board and Brush is planning to open in September 2018 and will be located in the Soldiers Field Plaza, right next door to Brothers Bar and Grill!
I checked in with the owners of Board & Brush, Carrie and Josh Wacholz, to get more info on their new place:
Jessica - This store is like a dream come true for this "farmhouse loving - think I'm crafty" girl.  What will your store be offering?
Carrie with Board & BrushOur studios offer a vintage, timeless look and each hands-on wood sign workshop teaches you the techniques needed to create a custom piece that looks professionally made.
Jessica - So, I get to learn how to create it...and it will actually look good enough for me to hang up in my house.  Amazing.  How do I see what the workshops are?

Carrie with Board & Brush - We host DIY workshops weekly that you may sign up on our website for at https://boardandbrush.com/rochester/ . All of the workshops are open to the public unless it is listed otherwise. We also host private events, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, baby showers, team building, holiday parties, and birthday parties for adults and children.
Jessica - I'll watch the calendar on the website and I'm sure I will be visiting you as soon as you open!  This is a pretty exciting moment for Rochester and also for you...so tell me, what was it like when you realized that Board & Brush needed to be opened here?
Carrie with Board & Brush -It still doesn’t feel real...I don’t think there was a big single moment but a lot of little moments have been celebrated thus far. I have been working towards opening the studio for almost a year. There is a lot that goes into it and I think once my doors are open and I can share this with the public...that will be the moment. Watching people be proud of their work and leaving with a great experience is why I am opening Board and Brush.
Jessica - We know a little bit more about the store now.  What about you...tell us a bit more about you.
Carrie with Board & Brush - I am a small town girl at heart. I grew up in a small town called Minnesota City that has less than 300 people in it. I met my husband Josh here in Rochester and we have 2 children together and 3 chickens. When I am not learning new techniques or playing around with paint, wood, furniture ect; I enjoy being on the water, being outside, watching sports and hanging out with friends and family.
Jessica - I know I am excited for your store but I'm excited for everyone that will have such beautiful creations as a result of Board & Brush!  Thank you for bringing this store here.
Follow Board & Brush on Facebook (click here) and find updates on projects and special events there...and free giveaways!  Hint...there is a way to save $10 of the workshop fee right now if you take a selfie in front of their sign.  Their Facebook page has a specific spot to add yours and get the discount.
