Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - The federal courts in Minnesota are halting almost all proceedings because of rising COVID-19 activity in the state.

An order issued by Chief Judge John Tunheim says the suspension of criminal and civil trials will be in effect through the end of the year. The order does not apply to criminal trials that are already underway at the federal courthouse in Minneapolis.

The order, which went into effect today also states that exceptions may be approved by the Chief Judge or presiding judge if special circumstances apply.
