If you drive a Ford car or truck, it might be included in a new recall the automaker announced late Wednesday.

Luckily for me, the compact SUV I drive is old enough and has been around long enough that it's not included in any active recalls. But if you drive a more recent car or truck around the highways and byways in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, a new recall announced by Ford Motor Company might affect your vehicle here in Minnesota.

According to this USA Today story, this recall, which Ford made public late Wednesday, affects roughly 2.5 million vehicles here in the U.S., Canada and elsewhere-- like across the pond in Europe. (And I have to say, it was cool to see the familiar blue Ford oval on vehicles when we were in Spain and Italy last year.)

It's all due to problems with door latches and a brake fluid leaks. There are actually two separate recalls-- one that deals with door latch problems and another that deals with brake fluid leaks. The door latch recall affects 1.2 million cars and SUV's while the brake fluid recall is mainly for pick-up trucks, and affects around 344,000 F-150's.

"The latch recall covers vehicles in the U.S. and includes the 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, the 2013 to 2014 Ford Fusion, the 2011 to 2014 Ford Fiesta, and the 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape and C-Max," USA Today noted, while the brake fluid recall covers "certain 2014 through 2017 F-150s in the U.S. and Canada," the story said.
