Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A unique partnership aimed at helping stressed-out college students has been launched in Rochester.

Zumbro Valley Health Center and Rochester Community and Technical College have announced a partnership designed to offer assistance to students dealing with mental health issues. The program offers all RCTC students on-site access to a mental health professional.

“College students today are dealing with higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression than ever before,” said Chief Executive Officer Beth Krehbiel, RN, FACHE. “This partnership is designed to make it easier for students to access care for their mental health issues on the RCTC campus.”

The mental health professional will provide therapy services within the Student Health Services area and, as necessary, will work closely with the college’s health care staff to help integrate mental and physical health issues.

“RCTC is overjoyed at the opportunity to provide access to this critical resource for our students,” said Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Michael Anthony, Ph.D. “We recognize the growing need to support our students’ basic needs, including mental health care and treatment. This partnership is designed to help our students be their best selves so that they can succeed in class, and meet their academic goals. We are thankful for our passionate student leaders for advocating for these increased services and look forward to what will come.”
