St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff at government facilities throughout Minnesota. The governor’s order follows a proclamation issued by President Trump that flags be lowered to half-staff through sunset on Wednesday in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday.

In issuing the order, Governor Dayton stated “a hateful act of violence was committed against the Jewish community at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The innocent victims and their families deserve our honor, respect, and remembrance.”

According to the Associated Press, 11 people were killed were murdered by a gunman who later told a police officer “I just want to kill Jews." Robert Browers was apprehended after he was shot and wounded by members of a police tactical unit. He is already facing state and federal charges that carry the possibility of the death penalty.
