Brainerd, MN (KROC-AM News) - A weekend snowmobile crash in the Brainerd Lakes claimed the life of a Dakota County teenager.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the 18-year-old man from Mendota was driving a snowmobile that crashed into the rocky shore on Birch Island in Gull Lake late Friday night. A friend of the victim performed CPR before he was airlifted to a hospital in St. Cloud where he was pronounced dead. The name of the victim has not been released.

Gull Lake is located just north of Brainerd. The deadly incident occurred on the south end of the lake near both Madden’s and Cragun’s Resorts.
