St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota's COVID-19 testing program reached a milestone today while some of the state's key pandemic related statistics have been moving in a positive direction.

State health officials say the approximate number of people who have been tested for COVID-19 is now over 1 million. About 12,700 tests were completed yesterday and detected 567 new cases for a positivity rate of about 4.4-percent. That rate has now been under five-percent for about a week. Eight of the new cases reported today were in Olmsted County, where the positivity rate from Sunday's testing was 4.3-percent.

The Minnesota Department of Health says there have been another six coronavirus related deaths throughout the state, while the number of people hospitalized because of COVID-19 was below 300 for a second straight day and was the lowest since July 27 at 286. 155 of the patients were being treated in intensive care units, which was three higher than the total reported yesterday.
