Costco Sheet Cakes ‘Currently Not Available’

I've been on the search for a place that can do some sort of yummy dessert for my daughter's graduation party.  Covid-19 has changed everything this past year for all things, including her party.  We thought we had one detail finalized - the cake - but turns out, sheet cakes at Costco are gone now too.

Yeppers.  Our favorite sheet cake in all of Rochester are gone.  I heard the news over the weekend as I was scrolling through my news and came across the story that the New York Post did about the change.  They stated that Costco shared the news back in May when they posted a video featuring their round cakes with the words, "Big achievements deserve a celebration! Share the love with your grad by picking up a round 10” cake at the bakery. Please note: Half-sheet cakes are currently not available to order or customize."

Why take our favorite cake away?  The story included a statement from that company that said, “To help limit personal contact and create more space for social distancing, Costco has reduced service in some departments … At this time, we are not making sheet cakes for special order,”

I guess we could do a circle cake but that is not as easy to serve to a few hundred people.  Still tasty, but not as easy.
