Brothers Killed in Crash Lost Their Mother 2 Years Ago
Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - The deaths of 2 young boys in a traffic crash last weekend in Goodhue County was not the only tragedy to visit the family in recent years.
A GoFundMe page established to benefit the family of 8-year-old Zachary and 5-year-old Taylor Johnson includes a reminder of the tragic death of their mother in March 2016. 23-year-old Marya Christiansen was returning to her home in Hager City Wisconsin after spending an evening with friends in nearby Red Wing when she lost control of her van and crashed into the backwaters of the Mississippi River. The wreckage of the vehicle and the young woman’s body were not recovered until 4 days after the crash.
Her young sons, along with the boy's grandmother, were fatally injured Saturday when the car they were in crossed the center line while rounding a curve on Goodhue County Road 18 and it collided with an SUV headed in the other direction. The deadly crash occurred just north of the Treasure Island Casino.
