Peterson, MN (KROC-AM News) - A search launched early today led to the recovery of a Fillmore County man's body from the Root River.

Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge says search and rescue teams were called out around midnight after a friend contacted the Sheriff's Office and reported the man had gone fishing alone on the river Tuesday afternoon and did not return home. The Sheriff says Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officers on an airboat located the man's body around 1:30 p.m. He was found a short distance downstream from his flotation raft between Peterson and Rushford.

The man's name has not been released while authorities worked to notify his family members. Sheriff DeGeorge says an autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of his death.
