Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County's Sheriff’s Office has some advice for area residents - don’t leave a gun in your vehicle.

A Stewartville man found out the hard way what may happen if you do. 

He called the sheriff’s office Monday to report a thief had made off with his handgun, which he had left in his unlocked car. The man said the gun was in a center console compartment, along with two boxes of ammo.

The theft occurred late Sunday night or early Monday.

The man lives in the 1100 block of Petersen Ct. NW.
