It's one of my favorite shows. It's set to kick-off its third season later this fall. And one of the main characters is from right here in Rochester, too.

So which show is it? It's 'Life In Pieces,' and it's a really funny comedy that airs Thursday nights at 8:30 on CBS. And one of its stars, Dan Bakkedahl, was born here in the Med City.

Bakkedahl plays a dentist who's married to the Short's only daughter. And, yes, he was born right here in Rochester. According to his cast bio, though, while he was born here, he actually grew up in Florida. He went to St. Cloud State here in Minnesota, but "completed his studies at Florida State."

You might also know him from “Veep” on HBO. And, he's also appeared in a ton of other shows, too, like “Legit,” “The Goldbergs,” “Gotham,” “30 Rock,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Mindy Project,” “The United States of Tara” and “Community.”

My wife and I first watched it a couple of seasons ago and really liked it-- which, we were sure, meant that it'd most likely be canceled. (Because that's what usually happens to us when we find a show we like.) But it was renewed for a third season last year, and after being on 'the bubble' (as they say about shows that may or may not make the cut for the fall season) this spring, CBS announced it would return later this year for a fourth season.

The show centers on the Short family, their three grown children (and their children) and how they all get along-- or don't. According to the CBS website, "'Life In Pieces' is a comedy about one big happy family and their sometimes awkward, often hilarious and ultimately beautiful milestone moments as told by its various members."

But don't set your DVR just yet-- new episodes aren't premiering in September, though. Last year, Life In Pieces' third season didn't premiere until November, and while there are no firm dates yet, it's a good bet new episodes for season four will start mid-season this year too.
