Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester International Airport has announced another addition to the schedule of daily flights from the facility.

Beginning July 5th, Delta Air Lines will add another daily flight from Rochester to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. The flight, which will have a 5:45 PM departure time, will be Delta’s fourth daily connection between Rochester in the Twin Cities. Delta also operates two daily flights from Rochester to the company’s home base at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

“Recent airline expansion says a lot about the work of the airport to explain to airlines how unique the Rochester metro area is,” said Jack Penning, Managing Partner of Volaire Aviation, a leading air service development firm. “Rochester’s airline capacity is increasing faster than any other regional market in the upper Midwest – a testament to the community’s years of hard work and dedication.”

The new Delta addition means the Rochester Airport’s daily flight schedule will grow by a total of five flights this summer, raising the total to 13. That represents an increase of 65-percent for the number of flights originating out of Rochester. United Airlines earlier announced it would be launching a new service from Rochester with three daily flights to Chicago O’Hare Airport next month and Delta previously added the second flight to Atlanta.

Rochester Airport Executive Director John Reed says his staff will continue pushing for additional flights from Rochester and are currently working to secure service to a major hub serving the western U.S., such as Dallas or Denver. He also notes that 71 local businesses have adopted “Fly Local” policies that encourage using the Rochester Airport whenever possible.
