More Than a Million Ram Trucks Are Being Recalled
I have good news and bad news.
The bad - Fiat Chrysler is recalling about 1.1 million pickups in the U.S. because of a defect that could result in your tailgates flying open while you're driving.
The good - they will fix it for you! When? That's undetermined at this time. In the news release, they said they will contact customers when service is available. In the meantime, they ask that you keep loose items secure in your truck bed. If you have any additional questions, you can call their Customer Care Center at 1-866-220-6747.
The recall covers a portion of Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from the 2015 through 2017 model years. Pickups in that range with manual tailgate locking are not affected. Also, the recently redesigned 2019 Ram and pickups with eight-foot cargo beds are not affected.
