Have you ever wanted to own your own bed and breakfast? Well the opportunity to do so may be closer than you think.

A few years ago, my wife and I stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, during our annual autumn getaway. While we were there, we met several other couples that were also staying there for the weekend. We were all able to visit in the late afternoon over some wine and cheese before we each went our separate ways for dinner at one of the area restaurants. Our room had a small living room area to sit and watch TV or read a book and a very comfortable bedroom and full bath/jacuzzi to relax in. It was like a home away from home. In the morning we all met for breakfast, which was prepared by our hosts and was delicious. It was fun and I wouldn't mind doing it again on one of our getaways.

If you also like staying at B&Bs and have entertained the idea about buying and hosting your own bed and breakfast, there's an opportunity to do just that right here in our community. According to the listing at BizBuySell, Faribault's exclusive B&B, the Historic Hutchinson House, is currently on the market. I've had the distinct pleasure to visit with owners, Doug and Tami Schluter, and spend some time relaxing on the spacious and beautiful front porch after touring this grand 1892 Queen Anne home that has been painstakingly restored to its original glory and now hosts guests from all over throughout the year. You can visit their website at HistoricHutchHouse.com to see pictures and learn more about the Hutchinson House.

I'm sure owning and operating a bed and breakfast takes a lot of commitment and work, but I'm also sure that it pays off in all the friendships and memories that are created there throughout the years with every guest that spends a few days in the comfort of one of its rooms.
