How To Score Free Shades To See The Solar Eclipse In Rochester
If you didn’t know, there’s going to be a total eclipse of the heart sun throughout the United States on Monday, August 21st. The cool thing? No other country in the world will be able to see it.
USA! USA! USA!
Here’s where it gets tricky – the total eclipse can only be seen on a very narrow path that stretches from Oregon all the way to South Carolina, as seen in this video:
That means those of us in Rochester will only be able to see a partial eclipse. Don’t get too bummed, though; it’s still going to be very cool. That being said, it’s apparently dangerous to view even a partial eclipse without something to protect your eyes. Those sun rays tend to be a little bright, you know.
Luckily, libraries all across the country are stepping up and providing free special glasses so we can all enjoy this rare eclipse. How awesome is that?
I took a look at the online map of libraries who are a part of this event, and I’m pleased to say that the Rochester Public Library is on that list. Sweet!
So make sure to mark down Monday, August 21st on your calendar – and head to our library to pick up your pair of shades. Can’t wait!
