It might seem like it's hard to do, but there are ways to lose the interest of a guy in Minnesota.

Fortunately, the Pew Research Center explained that most Americans still marry because they are in love. They say, "88% of Americans cited love as a very important reason to get married."

Do we really know what makes someone fall in love with us? Dating is hard enough. If there's anything we can do to make ourselves more "desirable" (whatever that means?) to someone, I'm sure we'd jump at the chance. The more I thought about dating in Minnesota, I realized that there are certainly some universal deal-breakers/no-no's that you probably want to be aware of.

    Be a Packer fan.

You're in Minnesota: if he's sensible, he's a Viking fan and so are you. I'm really doing you a favor here.

Have a serious distaste for beer.

If you're drinking with a guy in Minnesota, he's probably drinking beer. If you don't like beer, you might not have a lot in common, because... let's be honest... drinking indoors is all there really is to do in Minnesota for 7 months out of the year.

Fail to have your own hotdish recipe.

He'll be intrigued if you're creative! Plus, it's true that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

Have zero tolerance for a planting or harvest schedule.

Farmers are busy! If you live even 40 miles outside of Minneapolis or St. Paul, there's a good chance that you'll run into a farmer. He'll want you to understand that April and October are really busy months.

Wanna draw him in? Bring him food while he works!

Explain that you "hate" summer festivals

Again, the majority of a Minnesota year (for most) is spent indoors. He'll want you to join him outside while there are things going on!

    Get angry during hunting season.

For Minnesota, November is deer season. If he's a hunter, he'll be busy! Prepare for cancelled (or late night) dates because he'll be out until sunset.

    Be into his money.

So he's a doctor at Mayo? Great! If you're only in it for the money, he'll be able to sniff that out - trust me.

If he's not a doctor, he's a middle class guy like most of us and doesn't make much - sorry.

    Talk politics a lot.

No matter what your political stance is, it's just not "Minnesota nice" to discuss your thoughts on it too much.

    Be brutally honest.

"Minnesota nice" = passive aggressive. Choose your words carefully!

    Argue with his family.

Family is everything in Minnesota. He'll find it hard to forget that time you didn't get along with his Mom.
